Softening of Angelic Petals

Softening of Angelic Petals, originally uploaded by Woody Ang.

This photo is of a flower that is about 1cm in size in the garden. The soft focus is actually not post processed, but rather a result of the lens inversion technique using a standard 50mm lens. Only very minimal cropping of the left and bottom edges was applied. Mouse-over to to view the actual size of the flower.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION:
Canon EOS 350D, EF 50mm f/1.8 II, Exposure, 1/200 at f/1.8 (Inverted), ISO 100

To Mirror the Egret Portrait

Regretting the Egret Portrait, originally uploaded by Woody Ang.

This shot highlights the bokeh ability of the cheap telephoto. These egrets are serious bird posers. Plenty of willing models around the bird park. Mouse-over the image to view a near mirrored twin. This latter shot was taken by Jason Wan using a prosumer Canon S2 IS. I dare say it's a better shot and I really wonder what he'd be capable of if he had a dSLR. Time will tell, for the ability is unquestionable.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION:
Canon EOS 350D, EF 90-300mm f/4.5-5.6 USM, Exposure, 1/125 at f/5.6, ISO 400

The Past Gives Me the Blues

The Past Gives Me The Blues, originally uploaded by Woody Ang.

A little flashback to the days of my A70 camera. The emptiness of this scene does give you a sense that something is missing.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION:

Twinkling of Rainbow Lanterns

Twinkling of Rainbow Lanterns, originally uploaded by Woody Ang.

A myriad of colorful lanterns used as part of the 2007 Chinese New Year decor in Singapore's Marina Square. A very messy shot, but I'll let the colors speak for themselves.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION:
Canon EOS 350D, EF 50mm f/1.8 II, Exposure, 1/80 sec at f/2.5, ISO 100

Processing Amsterdam Romance

Originally taken by a friend, Alex Lee, when he was in Holland. His good initial composition allowed me the room to do the post-processing. In order to capture the essence of the scene I tweaked the white balance to a warmer, sepia-like tone, and added a bit more contrast. Mouse-over to view the original image.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION:
Olympus SP-700, Olympus 6.3-18.9mm (38-114mm) f/3.3-f4.0, Exposure, 1/200 sec at f/3.7, ISO 64

Malaysia's Own Blue Eye

Malaysia's Own Blue Eye, originally uploaded by Woody Ang.

Taken amidst the backdrop of Lake Titiwangsa, the use of post-processed blue filters almost gives a surreal look to this new Malaysian landmark.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION:
